January 08, 2006 - A delegation of the Hawaiian Kingdom Government visited the Iolani Palace to pay its respects to the elected kings and queens who led the kingdom prior to its illegal annexation.

Built by our spiritual ancestors, the Iolani Palace documents the enlightened nature of the Hawaiian Monarchy and its residents' commitment to serve the interest of the people of Hawaii.

From King Kalakaua's early implementation of new technology (the first installation of telephones in the Pacific, at a time when there were only a handful in Washington, D.C.) to his enlightened acceptance of art styles that the U.S. Attorney General couldn't mentally grasp even 125 years later, the Palace is a rich visual remainder of the ability of Hawaii's rulers to embrace progress, their affinity towards art in harmony with Hawaii's environment (as opposed to current public buildings) and their higher level of openness in their managing the affairs of the Kingdom than that of many current Western Democracies leading Transaprency International's list.

When the Hawaiian Kingdom erected this palace in 1882 it met or surpassed the highest standards of public office buildings of United States and the world, demonstrating Hawaii's ability to use the latest state-of-art technology on its own without requiring any foreign tutelage. The Palace shows us that progress and prosperity are purely results of economic and scientific development and are not dependent on any foreign power or ideology.

The fact that the King's motto, 'The life of the land is prepetuated in righteousness' (proclaimed on the occassion of the British return of Hawaiian sovereignty) was taken like so much Palace furniture during the subsequent U.S. annexation shows well the true nature of the venture. Witnessing the misappropriation of our king's motto about the righteousness of returning an annexed land to its rightful owners, the Hawaiian Kingdom Government cordially reminds its purloiners: after broadcasting this message worldwide for 109 years as your official motto, isn't it time to comply with it?
