December 16-18, 2005 - The Kahana Community Association held a three-day conference for Hui 'o Ka Na'i Aupuni Hawaii ("A counciling group of Hawaii elders") at the Kahana Valley Ahupuaa State Park. The theme of the conference was: "The Time Is... Now".

The purpose of the conference was to empower through education, to seek information through research, and to implement the results, by taking positive action. The event included a great number of activities and workshops.

The Kupuna ("Grandparents") are ever so watchful, advising and caring to every need for their people and their children through health, education and Ho'oponopono ("To correct"). They continue to pass down the wisdom they have received from their elders, and provide valuable insights to both family members and the Hawaiian Kingdom Government.

Her Royal Majesty Mahealani Asing, the Head of State of the Hawaiian Kingdom Government shared the news of the recognition of the Hawaiian Kingdom Government by the Secretary of State, and discussed plans of further action to expedite the process of transition. Besides other positions, Kupuna will play an important part in the Tribunal Council of the new government.
